Check Out: Goggles from Whistler, Lights to Ride in the Dark, & A GPS to Guide You Home
Haha, sunny days are super rare and with the majority of bike park riding in the forest, we opted to for a low light, high contrast lens option. We do appreciate that lens tint is a very personal choice and will be looking to increasing these options in the near future.

Hey @lornny, this is a fair point and definitely something we considered in the development of the Alta. We however have found that the anti-fog treatment of our single pane lenses more than effective enough for even the most humid, wet days in the Sea-to-Sky.

Tech Briefing: August 2023
Hey @palmgrove! Sorry we have only just seen this! Thanks for your comment and we respect your suspiciousness. The linked goggle frame does appear to share some similarities and there is likely good reason for this. Being completely transparent, lots of small companies have no other option than to design products around existing molds, due to the high costs associated with designing these molds. Our ‘designed in Canada’ statement does however still stand true. We design every other aspect of the product and have worked extremely hard testing, developing and retesting different frame, foam, lens and strap materials and designs, as well as different lens technologies and tints. For our Alta Goggle we work with multiple manufacturers due to our unique material demands, which would set our goggles apart from any stock Alibaba product as well.

Coast Optics Announces Biodegradable MTB Eyewear with Recycled Materials
@ShawMac: Having excellent anti-fog performance was definitely a priority for us when developing these goggles. Our anti-fog inner lens coating and targeted, laser-cut lens vents really do make a difference and we haven't had any issues in even the dankest of conditions! For the frame to biodegrade it has to be kept in quite specific conditions and in the presence of microorganisms to do their thing and breakdown the Bio-TPU. Under these conditions, the resultant, simpler monomers are readily available for organisms to incorporate into nitrogen and carbon cycles. Don't worry, our goggles won't start degrading on your face mid-ride! Our goggles are currently manufactured in China, however we plan to bring production to Canada in the future. This is obviously far more expensive and there are fairly significant setup costs for this, this is our ultimate goal though! There is absolutely no sacrifice to the product's lifespan by using the materials we have chosen to use, with a significantly smaller environmental footprint. We look forward to hearing your feedback if you decide to try out a set of Altas!

Coast Optics Announces Biodegradable MTB Eyewear with Recycled Materials
@RearBrake: Yes, the frame is fully biodegradable within 3-5 years under specific conditions. At the end of their life, we recommend stripping the foam, strap and lens from the frame. Your local recycling facility will be able to advise further on the processing of the Bio-TPU frame, as this does vary depending on location. The strap can be processed through a textile recycling stream and the lens, regular plastic recycling. Alternatively, you are welcome to return your goggles to us for us to process accordingly.

@inonyme + @booMcaT: We appreciate your concerns regarding greenwash marketing and agree this has no place in the mountain biking (or any other) industry! As far as I am aware greenwashing refers to: ‘the process of conveying a false impression or misleading information about how a company's products are environmentally sound.’ We have made no false claims regarding our material use, production or distribution. We know we aren’t perfect, but feel this is a good start and are excited to improve on this as more funding becomes available. Ultimately, the most sustainable option is to ‘ride what you brought’ and not consume new, shiny products. However, for when this isn’t an option we have tried to provide a more sustainable alternative for riders.
