Interview: Wesley Ferguson on Mountain Biking as a Black Man
@ryd-or-die: I do respect your opinion and if you have never experienced discrimination then I should consider UT. I am on the fence about Romney.
Like you, I am white. I have been told that I have white privilege. I have also been told that there is systemic racism or racism that is normal practice in society. Does privilege only apply to whites and systemic racism only apply to POC? I think not. Do I have generational wealth? No. My father is a liability that I have to support financially. Did I get preference when going to school? No. I was in the era where affirmative action was all the rage and my white privilege meant it was more difficult to get into college and get financial aid, which I needed. Fast forward 20+ years. Now, I go into a neighborhood where I own property and I get stared down as if I don't belong because of the color of my skin. I get asked what I am doing here. Is that racist and systemic because any white person in that neighborhood gets singled out like a black person might on a MTB trail. Also, the argument that we need to lift anyone's boat is nonsense. We had a black president, supreme court justices, generals, billionaires, CEOs, etc. People just need to work harder to do better, not get a bigger handout or have someone denounce the color of their skin.
Almost forgot to address the media. Yes, they are F**cking biased. Los Angeles is different from Utah, but we "celebrate" a basketball victory by rioting and looting. The large gathering is not condemned as irresponsible or a super-spreader event. The people that lost their businesses are not given reparations. Instead, our sh*tty governor says please get tested and we move on. Our president comes to town and they gasp at the atrocities his supporters are committing by not wearing a mask.

@Peskycoots: Haha. I get it. I do like my guns, country, flag, etc., but I don't care what color, gender identity or sexual preference anyone has. I also think he might be like 99% of Americans that are sick of this everything is racist nonsense and it comes off as hate. The news only portrays the far left and far the right. BOTH sides are nuts. I can't watch sports, TV in general or browse the internet without this "You are either for us or against us" mentality that has taken over society. I think we should laugh at his sarcasm and go ride our bikes. Cheers.

I think what Welsey is doing to get kids out on bikes is awesome and I applaud all of those who raise awareness to the sport, but PB, you can do better. His community outreach is about low income and you make it about race. Very Woke! Go straight to black on the first question. Have you been to Minnesota? It is 6% African American. The internet said that 8.6Mil Americans ride mountain bikes out of the 350mil or so that live in the country. Let's round up to 2.5% of all Americans ride MTBs. Now, assuming the distribution is uniform, Minneapolis (or any city) has 425,000 residents and 25,500 are likely of African decent. Approximately 638 would ride mountain bikes if there were equal representation amongst all races. Should we discuss hours in the day to ride and miles in the trail system to see how likely it is to find this person? If I personally know 638 people that mountain bike and I don't see 1 of them every time I go ride is that racist or just unlikely that I see someone?
The media and you beat this into our skulls as if the "systemic racism" in the US in the issue. Before you censor this for being racist, look up the statistics from the Department of Homeland Security and compare the violence from the hate groups to that of just the Mexican Drug Cartel (not being racist against Mexicans, it is just easy to find in the report and proves my point.)
Next time point out that Wesley is awesome and look at how many people he has gotten into biking. It might not sell as well, but it would at least be accurate.

I took a break from PB because it was 99% politics and 1% bike. Good to see I haven't missed anything. The entry point to bike racing being racist makes about as much sense as me saying I don't play in the NBA because the rim is too high and therefor not inclusive of short people. Also, if a flag makes you nervous, grow a pair. I have to drive by Biden/ Harris or BLM flags to get my kids to school, but thank god I am in my monster truck that runs off of puppies.

@Peskycoots: Thank you so much for summing up Merica for me. Haha. Maybe I missed all of the historic banter about the good BLM movement and bad conservatives that have ruined this country, but what did he say?

Field Test: 9 XC Bikes & the Grim Donut VS the Efficiency Test
Later on, Cannondale, Trek and Revel issued a joint statement saying that they plan on protesting the remainder of the test. In spite of them receiving equal treatment and tires, the Grim Donut has managed to make the test biased against them. The test will not matter until only black bikes matter.
