@rickybobby19: I am on some Arcteryx forums and half the time when people complain about warranty issues, the product is clearly dirty and hasn't been maintained. The thing about goretex is you do actually need to wash it or dirt and grime make the layers split.

@bishopsmike: right, but without actually trying this stuff who knows if its worth the premium. They are definitely not the first brand to put out $250 technical pants and $450 technical jackets. If I was riding around in the rain all the time I might find it worth it, but I don't

I think in clothing its meant as a way to show the durability of the product outlasts multiple cheaper products. But its not technically an investment.
