CONTOUR Pre-race Course Preview from Troy Brosnan at Leogang, Austria IXS Cup
Ive rewrote this post a few times but its more of a personal opinion i dont profess to being a DH racer (anymore) or a pro rider, but.
I feel the WC DH tracks are becoming sterile groomed big boy BMX tracks with more and more gaps and jumps (the bits they feature on the footage most for whips and crowd pleasers) than real "downhill".
My view is that the course should be just a wide taped line across the natural mountain and the riders pick the lines, no rock moving tree trimming health and safety conscious course just natural DOWNHILL!
Im sure its a fine line to balance as they want to attract TV and more money to the sport but at what cost to the sport, im just going on the bad old days of DH on a hardtail with 3" travel Judy's back in the 90's where the course was hardly marked and you just hung on and rattled down! :)
Get rid of the gravel and camel humps go natural! :)
Just my thoughts.
