@wolftwenty1: well, to be faaair, you can't ride the next day if you're bike is at the bottom of the ravine.

Tires a little heavier, saddle a little heavier, handlebars a little lighter- comfortable hands & ass + traction > lightweightness

@chullybun: Ya that was a bummer, but it did give a lot of false positives. We still use it for the last known position. Of the watch type options it's still my favorite.

Over time, I've kept the biking love while the people I used to ride with have gone on to other things. Now I'm older and it just seems like too much faff to try to build new connections, and I've found myself pretty ok with the Zen of riding alone. I do have a garmin watch that sends tracking to my wife and I try to wear something bright so they can find my body. Life insurance is paid up.

I gave up on the plus 1 thing- I got too many hobbies and not enough garage. I have one 2024 MY bike and I sold all my old bikes.

@leon-forfar: because the lifetime warranties are always full of holes. i don't want to argue or have to prove something- give me a warranty that is no questions asked short of direct impact.

Instead of a lifetime warranty which is just unrealistic and will have to have holes to make it justifiable, I'd rather have a 3 to 5 year warranty that is really generous and fit for purpose with a plan to have maintenance replacement parts at cost with good availability (they don't need to make a profit on bearings, and I don't need to wait for them). I plan on beating on my bike. I don't expect it to last forever. I don't think it should be free to maintain it, but it pisses me off to pay retail for 50 hour maintenance items. That seems 'handshake fair' to me.

During COVID I couldnt get a Maxxis to save my life- so I managed to get my hands on a vittoria cuz it's all I could find. I have ended up using them since. Usually trail casing but I have enduros too. I don't know if they're the best or not, but I know they are at least equal to a DHR/DHF combo. I know they use to have weak casings, but thats not an issue now that I can tell.
