In the 2003 TDF, Lance had an off with Evan Mayo, and rather than capitalizing in what would have been his only TDF win agains Lance, Jahn Ullrich slowed and allowed Lance to recover and eventually win the stage. Pendrel was put in a very difficult situation and I will not criticize her decision, I'm not sure what I would have done and I am fully hydrated sitting in a comfortable chair trying to make the decision as opposed to utterly exhausted sitting on a piece of carbon butt floss race saddle :P That being said, they could learn from Jahn as his actions were quite gentlemanly.
