I think that’s common sense “ so why is Behrman putting what is likely significant investment into the tooling to create them if not to do some shifty tax write-off?” I would guess it’s about developing the technology(thermoplastic matrixes and automatisation (it’s clearly the future for most composites but there is much less knowledge around then on the traditional thermoset matrixes in composites) Ps I don’t know the laws in the us but usually you can write of development/R and D cost )(and you can make a case that MTB rims are great for testing impact/ damage on carbon structures(many different kinds (hard to recreate in the lab)) “ Did nobody tell them that MTB rims have high failure rates and customers are used to warranties that cover those failures?” Those carbon with a thermoplastic matrix (like forge and bond used) are much more resilient towards impact than traditional carbon using thermoset resin(everybody else to my knowledge) so the could expect lower warranty case numbers.

Nah. You could get the 12 speed gearbox and have a DH bike you can pedal uphill (as long as the seat tube is straight and as a usable angle) This might free DH bikes of some of they’re limitations

@Sethimus: I will explain it The bike without the battery has a cog The battery(without the bike) cog fixed in the frame is higher the cog of the bike without the battery So if you put the battery in you raise the cog( this depends on the places of both cogs and the ratio of the weights of bike and to battery. a heavier battery has a greater effect on overall cog then a lighter one) => a heavier battery will negatively influence the cog of the bike You can think of it like mounting a heavier handlebar with the same geometry. It will change the cog.

@Sethimus: but heavier and the battery cog ist higher and forward compared to the rest of the bike that that if the bike So the battery moves the bikes cog forward and up

@rojo-1: I oppose that point of view. If I want to go Downhill I prefer the to save the extra kg of the 800wh battery not only because of the weight but because of the place it would be(the big batteries move the Center of gravity up and forward making the bike handle worst) Also the big battery bikes look worse in my opinion
