First Ride: The 2020 Specialized Turbo Levo SL Weighs Only 38 Pounds
407 responses- dammmm. The YT boys in Hausen Germany are licking their chops today thinking about how they will reverse engineer the more significant attributes of the Levo SL next year - for half the price Spesh is asking. I’m not ready to throw in the acoustic towel yet, despite the fact that I’m 64, have AFIB, and been told by the Steadman clinic that I need to have both hips replaced after 30 years of riding mountain bikes. if I (ever) come to a time that I really need a little help to get up and down the Colorado Rockies, I’ll be writing a check to whoever comes up with the best whip for the ducats. It’s a bike I ride nine months a year, not a zip code.

10 of the Best Mountain Bike Saddles Ridden & Rated
A boat might have been missed here entirely. My LBS of choice is the Sports Garage in Boulder. Hands down the best bike shop and mechanics I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. I brought in a freshly assembled YT Capra AL 27.5 Ltd last fall for cockpit and tire change outs and they recommended a Ergon sport gel in a woman’s version. I’m 6’3” 220 rigged up and I was like WTF? Omar told me to have faith, saying that the many of the crew there rock this Ergon women’s version, as it’s a shorter saddle that you can maneuver around on effortlessly and ride comfortably all day. Dam if he wasn’t 100% right. I wouldn’t have come up with the idea on my own. What works best for your unique body type might just surprise you.

Pinkbike Poll: Would You Rather Be Over-Biked or Under-Biked?
Over bike for sure! All my current bikes are more capable than I am and after riding the best mountain bikes I could afford since 1980, I’m grateful that bikes are as capable as they are now. That said, I have plenty of options in my current stable to maximize the fun and keep my ass from getting into too much trouble - all without a battery in sight. Now get off my lawn !

Video: Nino Schurter VS Mike Levy - Humbled
Big props to Levy for his effort in this. He gets a little light-hearted shade for doing these vids, but it seems like he’s having fun and I enjoy watching them. I would love to see how 90% of pink bike readers perform in any of the segments. You’d watch that red hot mess and gain a whole new appreciation for Mike’s riding skills and fitness.

Jesse Melamed's Rocky Mountain Instinct & 2 Transitions Stolen in Mexico
Inside job for sure. Mexicans are way more clever that the average Stanford educated senior when it comes to knowing where and where to steal something rare and of value - I know, I’m married 10 years to one and she’d know that you’re bringing expensive bikes. Me, I don’t take the a bike out of our stable without the metolius gear vag stuffed with this bad boy https://www.westechrigging.com/pewag-security-chain-012-galv-kit-10.html Tested a link with a diamond blade in a Makita cordless grinder and it was an exercise in extreme patience. If you want to take that amount of time before I might show up and ruin your world, be my guest. Best two hundred bucks I’ve ever spent. The lead mechanic at Big Al’s in Created Butte came out to our car to see our bikes locked up and the only thing he could say was “ you’ve got to be F#%*ing kidding me! I don’t doubt that a determined individual could steal our bikes, but after losing my last bike, I’m going to make it a little harder for them.

Video: Ethan Nell Shreds The YT Decoy in Utah
This edit is a preview to what we’ll soon be inundated with. Every bike manufacturer with sufficient capital and resources is 100% committed to developing their designs and market positions for e-bikes. The boutique brands that decide ( for whatever reason) to stay out of this market are sadly relegated to stagnant growth, while the bigger companies will develop the only new revenue opportunity they see on the horizon. As for winning hearts and minds, I couldn’t care less. I’ve been riding mountain bikes for 35 years and will keep riding them as long as I can get a leg over one. Once you come to grips with getting both hips replaced, adding a battery to your bike is easy.
