@jeemuscrickets:
Dear pinkbike commenter,
I have now read the book. There were a lot of similar things Ive read in other books but still it had some different interesting thoughts that stuck with me.
Yet i found out, this blocking of websites i recommended earlier totally fits within the idea of taking the good of side of technology and avoiding the addictive stuff. Theres quite some pages dedicated to blocking aswell. Its not merely a "hack" but still I understand you need to rethink your relationship to technology as a whole.
Funnily enough, this book made me think more serious about blocking a lot more websites now and reading pinkbike, news websites etc on my e-reader, on which i always read more slow and relaxed.
Thanks for recommending this book for recharging my dislike for mindless distraction. This wont be the last book on the topic either, i know for sure I will read one similar book on this topic again to pump myself up again maybe in two years time.

@jeemuscrickets: I understand, actionable plan and all that. Ive read countless books with actionable plans, that go from step to step. Fell back to losing time on a phone/laptop etc. If you are addicted to this kind of stuff it is really easy to go off plan. Thats when hard blocks work.
Its like giving a cigarette smoker a book on how to smoke less cigarettes. While the book actually contains valuable and executable plans, it will stay unexecuted or half executed.
Instead, if the cigarette smoker doesnt have access to cigarettes, they will not be able to buy them at all. Will power is limited and the power to resist after a looong work day or in a stressfull phase is smaller than usual. Thats the point i want to make.

@jeemuscrickets: I agree that you need to have the right philosophy as well. I do too. But the effect of an "aha!"- Moment after reading such a book fades away really quick. Thats where the hard block comes into play. Gets rid of addictive social media for good. I cant see the video of MVDP on my phone btw. Would need to log into my laptop (on which yt shorts and recommendations are also blocked btw) to watch it. Dont mind being able to not see it right now. Its not just a "hack" but a hard block for addicted people. If you really cant stop like i did for some time, knowing the philosophy doesnt change much. Most addicted people know what would be right in theory, but have problems in practice.

If you have a problem with extensive social media use, here is a solution. BEWARE: it actually works.
1. Block the apps AND the websites you dont want to visit (or add a screen time).
2. Add a password to the block, so that you cant bypass
3. Lose the password or type something you'll forget for sure.
4. et voila!
If you ever need to undo the password, it is technically still possible but rather inconvenient, cause you need to go to your settings, then forgot password, type in your e-mail, etc...
so no need for the case.
only downsite: you'll develop a habit of browsing on pinkbike, nsmb, the radavist and bikepacking.com. You'll type in the webadress without a thought.
But still better than social media. Also if you have a prob with that you can limit pinkbike.com screentime.
