The prize money will more than pay that rent I'm pretty sure...

The Ultimate Guide to the 2024 XC Racing Season
Yeah a gravel race but no Pisgah Stage Race or Downieville Classic either... I guess we take whatever XC coverage we can get on PB!

First Ride: 2024 Specialized Epic EVO 8
If I had all the cheese in the world, I'd trade my gen 7 epic evo for a new S-works epic frame and be very happy with the extra rear travel and swat box - but mainly I'd be after the new kinematics. Sadly, this little mouse only has so much cheese, so I'll happily keep racing my evo, which weighs less than any of these bikes.

Velo Digest: Plastic Bikes, Outrageous TT Helmet Designs, Maxing Out On Caffeine, & More
That helmet isn't for you or me. You aren't going to see that on your Saturday bakery ride anytime soon, and if you do, I would 100% expect every other rider to laugh at the idiot who shows up wearing it. That helmet is for a time trial, period. And really just for time trials at the elite level, where every microwatt matters. And if you think any Jumbo Visma rider is worried about being labeled "weird," well, their paychecks will more than compensate for that. Lastly, I will just say that any human willing to do what it takes to complete a Tour is far, far, far beyond "weird" in any sense of the word, so honestly the helmet just helps them look the part.

The 2024 Guide to US Racing
A "races" tab would be a great addition to PB's website. For every race on this list, there are about 100 left off, and it would be awesome to be able to search by date, discipline, state, etc. To differentiate and improve upon the BikeReg format, it would be sweet to have race reviews for the annual races so folks can talk up the course, feed zones, vibe, etc.

Review: SRAM's New Maven Brakes - The Big Brake
I support this idea, but if this review is any indication, the comments will turn into a useless debate about DOT vs mineral oil. Scrolling this thread for any actual useful information about the brakes themselves has been fruitless.

UCI Announces 2024 XC Marathon World Cup Schedule
@BikesBoatsNJeeps: I will add that I jumped to my flat-course conclusion (in classic Pinkbike fashion) because last year's marathon nat's course, which I considered racing after a W at the Shen 100, was on rolling terrain without any climbs over about 300 feet. Seemed to make the event more about horsepower, cornering, and drafting than climbing prowess, which is fine, just not my style of racing. Give me those 3k foot ascents, the steeper the better, and I have a good shot.

UCI Announces 2024 XC Marathon World Cup Schedule
@mrmikebikes: happy to stand corrected - I googled Lake Placid and Florida came up. Adirondacks sounds much more fitting. I never won any geography bees.

Lake Placid, really?? Call me crazy, but a marathon XC race should have at least one decent climb...
