@skibcncb: I appreciate the letter of the law, the rules say it was illegal. But this should be a common sense exemption given the circumstances. I would imagine all the other rule-following riders in that situation would have wanted to save their own leg too, without penalty for doing so.

This is absolutely awful for our sport - all the pros should stand united against this nonsense and boycott the next race. I would. Stand together against the nonsensical decision and support an athlete who is on top form and deserves every bit of success drawn from his dedication to the sport.
