I think this is an example of the industry chasing more sales. People like long and stiff bikes for stability on high speed flow trails.

Rocky Mountain Slayer A50 Large
$2500 CADProfessional serviced yearly, which included a drivetrain, brake and dropper post service this year.
Rear wheel was upgraded to a burly Race Face ARC HD 30 rim and Vault hub. Both wheels are currently setup as tubeless.
This is a mini-DH bike that you can truly climb (no pedal bob). I bought it as an enduro bike to climb local trails and ride park aggressively worry free. It is still in excellent condition and I am only selling because I am not riding as much park as I used to.
The original misc parts, coils and an Assegai 3C DH tire are included.
