Bellingham Kona Shop Hiring Mechanics and Sales Staff

Prepare for your Stoke Meter to be pegged: The Kona Bike Shop is hiring for multiple positions! Come turn a wrench, sell some bikes, meet some rad folks, hang out with some dogs, and spread the shred. We are looking for an easygoing, knowledgeable person who loves to ride bikes to add to our crew. The Kona Bike Shop is our flagship store located in Bellingham, Washington. The shop acts as our showroom, events hub, and is a staple in the local cycling community. The KBS is looking to expand its staff and is currently hiring for a bike mechanic and sales staff. If you love talking bikes, wrenching on bikes, learning about everything from Biopace to bike packing, doing wheelies, trying to do wheelies, or just riding any kind of bike, we would love to hear from you! We are a group of active, community-oriented, bike enthusiasts here to share the Kona stoke with the full spectrum of local cyclists. Qualified candidates will perform a variety of service functions on new and used bikes ranging from E-bikes to full suspension mountain bikes. You will assemble and prepare bikes for the sales floor, properly assess and determine bike repairs, and recommend customer options. All levels of sales history and mechanical experience are encouraged if you would like to join a team of rad folks from all cycling backgrounds. The nuts and bolts: (Loose job description) • Maintain shop cleanliness including bench, shared workspace, and common spaces. • Apply shop standards in the assembly and repair of bikes across the full product line. • Evaluate the mechanical condition of the product and estimate the cost of repairs. • Provide an educated assessment for a bicycle repair for the customer, including an estimated completion date. • Meet or exceed shop production standards. • Complete ticketing in Lightspeed accurately and fully (record parts used, work performed, detail of torque tolerance, and standard procedures; complete pricing of job ticket) and process to next status or location. • Assist customers in the sale or repair process by sharing product and technical knowledge as appropriate. • Operate cash register as necessary. • Explain technical product or service information to customers. • Other duties as needed/ assigned. The Nitty Gritty: (Requirement basics) • Minimum 1 year working as a technician/mechanic in a bike shop with references. Proficient in building bikes • Interest in collaborating as a team and dedication to strong communication • Ability to work under direction and motivated to exceed expectations • Prioritizes organization • Interest in developing your skills and knowledgebase • Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and/or weekends • Ability to periodically lift 50 pounds The shiny accessories: (Preferred skills) • Proficient in suspension service • Proficient in brake bleeds • Sales experience • Working knowledge of POS (Lightspeed) sale systems • Working knowledge of social media Benefits: This is a full-time, salaried position. A competitive benefits package includes store discounts, a staff bike, and flexible scheduling.
