Some would argue that that is simply what downhill mountain biking is. Ride the track as it is. I honestly thought it made for a more interesting race; a fairly bike-parky and non-technical track ended becoming extremely challenging because of how blown out it was. If they rebuilt all the most blown out corners mid-weekend, would that really make for a better race? It seems that good racing (at least for the spectator) is inversely related to rider safety. Making the average speed on track slower, especially in tricky corners and exposed sections, is probably the best way to make major injuries less likely. But you can still get send to the hospital going otb at 5mph into a rock. So it’s never going to be safe

I think the goal was to slow down the rider’s entrance speed into the step down jumps by making the corner before tighter? Last year they were overshooting a lot if I remember correctly.

2025 Red Bull Hardline Wales Final Results
That doesn’t make any sense; yes it’s a downhill race but it’s extremely different from a World Cup race. I think people have been desensitized to how insane dh racing, especially on a gnarly track, is by how tight the world cups have become. But this is very different from a World Cup race, and can only be fully appreciated when viewed as its own kind of race.
