At What Point Does Mountain Biking Go From Inspiring to Unrelatable?
Not sure I want my outdoor media to be relatable. Every persons relationship to various corners of our media landscape will differ. It’s up to you to decide what parts of that you want to relate to and strive for, or even emulate, and what parts of that you take as a more basic form of consumption for enjoyment and storytelling. When I was a kid we knew zero mountain bikers, there were some adults racing cross country locally that I learned about lates, but I had no peers in my area. I only had wild stuff in magazines as inspiration to get into in, and yet here I am 30 years later, riding bikes like a normal person and having a blast. I haven’t put my bike on a chairlift in 10 years, but I never miss a wcdh, or a hardline.

Shimano, please release an actual new product sometime this decade. Linkglide is cool for ebikes, and I appreciate it exists, but how is this at all different from what is currently available?

@gcrider: I can’t imagine the rules say “a rider that leaves the course must re-enter where they left, unless it’s the result of a crash or rider contact.” To me, the fact that this move was forced because of crash avoidance is irrelevant. Leave the course-> re- enter where you left, period.
