Still a little shocked at how good this bike turned out. It's my second complete frame. Maybe I have a future as a frame builder. I hope so. It's a lot of fun...

My latest victim ;) The boss needs test miles/video/pics of our new carbon stems and handlebars so I hijacked his hardtail. It's built and spec'd for a guy more than twice my weight, but still a lot of fun.

Alternate commute route to work. There's a full on Wile E Coyote style vertical drop into a canyon about 1 foot left of the trees. I f*ck'n LOVE living in Los Alamos...

More Valles Caldera. I'm planning a ride that loops around the entire inside of the volcano, but it's a pretty long loop, so I'm scouting it in sections first.

So this is what the inside of an extinct supervolcano looks like. Perfect for a day long getaway...

Way the hell and gone in the back of Valles Caldera.

Mile upon mile upon mile of gravel at around 8,000 ft. elevation with almost no one around. Saw 4 pickup trucks in the whole day, and I was going faster than they were...

Still need about 400 more test miles on this hub, so I'm out early and late these days pounding out the miles...

Dawn Patrol on Kwage Mesa. It cleared up later, but the day got off to a misty start.

Still haven't had a chance to really get out and see what she'll do, but at least I got her outside and some dirt on the tires. Too bad it was only going outside for promotional pics... Oh well. Tomorrow is Saturday. Today we work.... TOMORROW, WE RIDE!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!!!! This is one of two full carbon gravel prototypes we just built up for testing. One is 1x Shimano Di2, the other SRAM Rival 1 with an e*thirteen TRS+ cassette. Since I'm the SRAM guy around here, this one's mine! Fully dressed with sealant and pedals and our NOT THE LIGHTEST wheel set I'm coming in at 18lb. Might be able to get down to 17.5 with a 24/20 spoke combo. Either way, I'm gonna be hard to find around the shop for the next couple days....

Not one of MY bikes for a change. I just love the colors of this Giant. It's wearing a pair of our GravityWorx 27.5/40mm carbon wheels with our newest generation of hubs. For those out there who might be curious: 765g (f) 880g (r) for a total of 1645g w/ 142mm/Shimano HG style freehub.

Behold my newest frankenbike, The Salty Dawg. Someone threw away this Marin hybrid down the street from my boss because the fork arch was cracked. The rest of the parts were crap but the frame is actually pretty nice, so I turned it into my idea of the perfect bike for salty winter commutes. Brakes and gears live in the hubs away from the muck. Bring on the weather!

Below freezing, but bone dry and clear as a bell. Still great riding weather if you dress for it.

Always glad when I get to this point. It's a drag trying to pedal uphill with no chain. In fact, it doesn't work at all. I don't know what they were thinking when they put this sign here.

This is why I really love this bike. This was a 31 mile ride with over 4k elevation gain, including steep climbs and descents on both pavement and singletrack with surfaces varying from sand, to hardpack, gravel, rocks, mud, loam and grass and speeds of up to 43mph. Sure you COULD do it on a pure road or pure mountainbike, but half of the time the ride would REALLY suck. This way it's 31 miles of nonstop fun.

Early fall in Valles Caldera. Perfect day. Just cool enough to be uncomfortable if you're not doing something.

Miles! Miles! Miles! It's an awesome bike, but will it stand the test of time? Only one way to know... I love my job!:)
