Pinkbike Poll: Is Dual Slalom Still Relevant?
I could write thousands of words on this. 4X is not about rider numbers. It’s about the show it provides. The 4X ProTour stop at JBC Bikepark attracted over 14,000 spectators this year. The world championships in Val Di Sole had 10,000 spectators and an atmosphere that made the following days dh seem dull. 4X is not about rider numbers. It’s about the entertainment, show and whole track viewing that this sport provides. Jumps of 50 foot with 4 riders head to head gets people cheering. Take a look at the images by Charles Robertson on my website www.beaumontracing.com to get a better feeling of current 4X. What I find is anyone who argues about costs of building 4X tracks generally hasn’t seen a modern 4X race or track. They base their arguments on a World Cup race in Durango in 2004 or something and haven’t researched how amazing some of the 4X facilities currently are. In Britain we have a 7 round 4X series. Next year we will have a 7 round 4X ProTour series. We have a waiting list of venues in places like Russia and Mexico who are desperate to host 4X ProTour. My advice is. If you haven’t watched a 4X ProTour in the last 3 years then you have no idea what tracks and events currently look like. That makes you very ill informed to comment on the relevance of 4X or other head to head racing. Most of us don’t live in war torn countries. We race mountain bikes. It’s fun. Aren’t we lucky to even own bikes. Get involved or don’t. But enjoy yourself. If you don’t like racing other people then don’t do it. But if it’s entertaining don’t throw arguments like there’s not many do around. It’s boring. F1, Moto GP have 22 riders/drivers. It’s about the show.

Race Report: British 4X Series 2018 Round 7, Redhill Extreme
Amazing end to a fantastic year for the Schwalbe British 4X Series. The track always produces great racing and this year was some of the best yet. 4X continues to be the best value, most fun you can have on a mountain bike in a day. Entry fees are cheap, your friends and family can see you start to finish and the riders are all super friendly and helpful. 2019 dates will be out soon with some more news about the series and great plans for next year. Stay tuned. SB

Results: 4X World Championships - Val di Sole 2017
Tough night for me!.... Great for the sport though that Felix Beckman won. Some great racing in men's and women's, just gutted I crashed out first round.
