@flyinflynn: to be fair, my stereo did use to creak a fair bit but it made me learn how to fix it and maintain it. I got higher quality bearings for it and never have a problem now..mind you I dont think i suffer from the same proprietary nonsense as you are. Bummer.

@Kilian1b15Gt: had my stereo 150 for 4 or 5 years now and its absolutely bomb proof. Not a single issue ever with it apart from the noisy OG maguras that came with it, which are now XTs, the thing is mint. Hasn't let me down once and because of the spec and price point it gets abused harder than a red headed step child and it never complains. If its ever noisy its my fault for not keeping up with maintenance. However, it is my first bike and while I love it and have the best times on it but I have nothing else to compare it with. Bummer about the maguras tho, they felt real nice and were super powerful but that noise, I just couldn't stand it any longer.
