My got my first mountain bike in the early 80's and felt like I had found my tribe. I started my career in the fire department in the mid 90's and again felt like I had found my tribe, but this time with purpose.I spent the next quarter century and majority of my "adult" life discovering who who I am and enjoying my job more than I think most people get to. I remember early in my career one of my mentors telliing me...."Junior, you're gonna hafta slow down if you're gonna make it through this job" and thinking...."get out of the way old man, make way for me". As the years went by there were so many days I couldn't wait to get home, hug my family, and not say a fucking word. And it hurt(s) inside. I'm tearing up and trembling as I write this. Those words spoken to me so many years prior rang through my mind. It took decades for me to understand how to open myself to others to help process it all. In confiding with my peers, I rember their astonishmentthat these vulnerable words were coming from me of all people. The first step is the hardest, but it starts the journey. I slowly started to feel lucky for each painful and taxing event at work and in everyday life. My go-to became thinking how grateful and thankful I am to be in this moment. Some times it's hard to get to this place. That's the time to ask for help. Life is fragile. Life is short at it's longest. Gratitude for each day, the good days and the bad, those days we get to be on our bike and make memories mean everything to me. You have truly been of service to me and everyone else with your efforts! Thank you

@pelopidas: Enduro has done more to shape current (good) mountain bikes than any other discipline in my opinion.....these are the bikes we ride. At least me.

Too bad the Tomac interview coudn't be by someone who new anything about history of mountainbiking. Great to see JohnnyT reminiscing about his reverance(my words). Sorry to be negative, but if you interview John, I can't help thinking you should have your chops up....love hearing about Tomac's career. Saw him at alot of races back then, one of my faves was him bunnyhopping across the train tracks after the road championship in silver summit Utah outside of PC....he casually launched his roadie about 50 feet down the pavement. Bow down in adoration and supplecation to one of the true greats in cycling history. Thanks for the memories!! Thank you IMBT and Austin for spending time with JT!!

I was here this year...Drove down from wyoming, stopped in big cottonwood canyon slc, hiked, boarded fresh pow. Drove to virgin, camped by the creek. Met all the like minded cool folks. Rode the trails, saw Cedric "rescue" a young damsel from the other side of the flooding creek. Helped Super T walk down with his bike and atomic ankle after a big dismount. Hooked up with one of the media during the event, took photos, did a photo shoot with Chris Van Dine, scammed my way into the after party. One of the best trips ever! The event is bigger and rowdier than ever. If you talk shit about this event, you don't know, and never will sitting behind your little keyboard. There is nothing like it anywhere in the world. STOKED for this every year!!
