I am absolutely clueless concerning first aid, its awful I know it. I haven't hurt myself worse then torn shins or bruised muscles. People I've ridden with haven't been so lucky though. A good friend of mine (first time riding, I was trying to introduce him to mtb.) tried a jump outside his skill ceiling. Over shot the landing, didn't have enough time to slow down before a turn and ran straight into a tree. (If memory serves me right it was on or below Race of Spades for those who ride Moose Mountain, you might know the spot. I honestly can't remember the trail name.) Knocked dead cold. Of course no one knew anything other than to get him to a hospital asap so we carried him down the the mountain. It took us a couple hours to carry him out and to drive to the hospital. Ended up with a severe concussion and hasn't touched a bike since. The worst part is I know the responsibility lies in me with taking someone on a trail they weren't ready for that ended in a friend being seriously injured and scared away from something I couldn't live without. TL;DR Make good judgement on a beginner's abilities and don't take them on trails they may not be ready for yet.

Cool, a place I actually ride often. Good XC trails here.

If I was selling any organ to go ride, I think a lung would be the last one I'd sell. XD
