@ReformedRoadie: Hard disagree. Friction shifters remain by far the best option for front derailleurs where trimming is a necessary part of good shifting. I have one with many thousands of miles on my touring bike with zero complaints. I still think 1X is the way for mtb, but if gripshiff and indexed 2x/3x front shifters didn’t suck so much, the front derailleur wouldn’t have died such a sudden death.
