2025 Lake Placid XC World Cup Results & Highlights
@dthomp325: I mean.. he won it all in Nove Mesto. An alternative theory is just that he attempted to peak early and peak late (Spring and Fall) and got a bit tired in the middle.

2025 Les Gets XC World Cup Final Results & Highlights
@g123: You're making claims about his skills on an MTB from one race in an era of his career during which he has spent maybe 2-3 weeks on the MTB throughout the entire year, max. He was beating Nino in 2019 in close to peak Nino. He's wins basically ever CX race he rides. The point is, he could very well be one of the best technical XC racers, he just needs to spend more than a few days on the MTB per-year. He isn't a one trick pony on the MTB in general, he just appears as such right now because he doesn't ride one. Take most of the guys who race XCO very well right now and force them to not ride an MTB for a year - I don't think they would be looking all that great either.

2025 Nové Město XC World Cup Results & Highlights
MVDPs career is so epic as a whole but the string of MTB crashes leading to DNFs is getting to be a little much. At some point I really hope his team lets him just race road in the Spring only. He really could become the winningest ever at CX world champs and at Tour of Flanders and Roubaix. But his summers are going to waste if he wants to be on the MTB but is being forced to prep for and ride the tour.

@wipperman95: Do you have a link to this? I was really hoping he'd deem road worlds next year too hard and pivot to MTB.

Velo Digest: Ranking the Gold Medal Favorites for the Olympic Road Race, The Youngest Solo Tour Divide Finisher & More
@betsie: the fuck are you talking about? MVDP dropped Pog at worlds last year. Worlds is not a training ride, it’s a key target for Pog. Pogi is very dominant but in head to head battles with MVDP in BIG one day races, MVDP has often prevailed.

I just don’t think many ppl think of him as a roadie. More and off road guy who wants the prestige of big road wins too. I just wonder if he wouldn’t win more on the road if he focused solely on it. What he’s kinda proving now is that he isn’t able to be super elite at both. Not saying he doesn’t have an awesome road palmares, but could it be better?

MVDP has absolutely mopped the floor with Pogacar in one day races (worlds last year, RVV 2021, MSR 2023). He may not be able to race for GC but when it comes to long one day races, MVDP is the big dog, not Pog or Jonas. Unless the course reallllly suits Pog (liege).

Final Results from the Men's Paris Olympics MTB XC
Damn.. bummed how that played out. Nothing really wrong with Pidcock's move, but after such a great duel it is a bit of a displeasing way for the victory to come about. At least relative to the satisfaction you get as a viewer watching a side by side clean sprint to the line.
