First Look: Ibis' Longest, Slackest, and Burliest Ripley
@pabiking: Plus a BikeYoke vs. KS E30i dropper, along with XT brakes, rotors, cranks, bottom bracket, and cassette vs. the SRAM stuff. Bit more than just a shifter and derailleur. I think that the carbon bar, branded stem, significantly better dropper, plus the XT group justifies the price difference.

Crash Tested: iXS Trigger Knee Pads
Testing shows that, even though intuitively a hard shell outside feels more protective, it actually is worse at attenuating impact forces than a soft pad only. German mag did a big lab test on this - https://enduro-mtb.com/en/the-best-mtb-knee-pads-you-can-buy/ The plastic does provide a slippery surface though for sliding which can help, but for direct hits it might not actually be the best option. This was a surprise to me.

First Look: Fox Rampage Pro Carbon Helmet
Those fluid filled pads look and probably feel very similar to the POC SPIN pads. They have soft gel in the back that allows for the shearing movement that seems to be key to this type of design. Downside - less foam area for sweat to absorb into so they max out quicker and start dripping sweat sooner.

Review: Syncros' Hixon SL IC Integrated Carbon Bar & Stem
I had a bad ass monster sized stiff as hell Syncros quill stem on a Kona AA back in the day, when Kona still spec'd threaded headsets vs. going threadless. It's 130mm of length held my 640mm Answer Hyperlite handlebar capably. Looked the business for sure. Sorta glad they are still around, but like Bontrager a lot of the mystique is missing now that they are a house brand.

The Guy Who Designed Chromag's Doctahawk Hardtail Explains Why It's So Long & Slack
It is. We had an ER trauma technician we used to ride with who closed up a huge gash in a guys shin in the first hour of riding the Monarch Crest trail in Colorado. He cleaned the guys wound, numbed the area with some lidocain, pulled out a surgical stapler from sealed package to close the wound, then wrapped in gauze and tape. Ride saved.

Performance to Close All Remaining Stores, Over 95 ASE Employees Laid Off
Who remembers the Access frames that Supergo sold in the mid 90's that were designed by Peter Denk? Had no idea at the time who that was. Turns out he's had a long legacy in mountain bike. http://denk-engineering.de/history

Review: Niner's 2019 RIP 9 RDO 29
@the-joe: I could use one of these for the DPX2 on my Evil Following MB, clearance to get a shock pump on is real tight and cross threading is a concern. Hope they offer it separately!

Guerrilla Gravity's Less Expensive, US-Made Carbon Frame
Went to the sold launch party tonight at the Marquis Theater in Denver. Couple of loud bands that rocked, beer, pizza, and crazy new carbon from an what has been an aluminum bike brand to this point. Hats off to Will and the crew if they actually have pulled this off!
