in theory that's what WBD tried to do (albeit not for free) in Europe by putting it a subscription package with a far greater viewership than Redbull TV. It's allowed them to invent new viewing metrics to celebrate record audiences without any evidence they've increased viewership in any meaningful way. In reality DH is a niche sport now lost amongst everything else in that package and by messing with the format they alienated core fans at the same time.

I wouldn't necessarily have an opinion about prize money, but whilst UCI are wasting funds in irrelevant races like snowbiking and e-bike racing, and world cup teams and event hosts are seeing costs escalate, I think riders see a more fair slice of the pie. The top dogs are doing very nicely already, so I'd suggest a more even payout for all elite riders that make the finals
