FVMBA - All Mountain Spring Series 2012

Feb 6, 2012 at 21:38
by Tyler Maine
We had a great season of racing last year. A lot of racers took in some inexpensive and fun low key racing. Over the five events we hosted, FVMBA learned what worked and what needed to be improved upon. We have also listened to the feed back from the racers, what they liked and wanted to see more of.

For 2012, Pinkbike.com and Avenue Body Shop are pleased to present the FVMBA All Mountain Spring Series.

FVMBA 2012 Poster

This will be a point series again. Racers will collect overall series points in two XC races, two Super D races and one AM race. The XC races will be mass start events. The AM and Super D races will all be 1 min interval starts. Vedder will not have the 1.5km flat road traverse, but a surprise of more DH may be added to this course. Riders with the skills and ability to handle what the Fraser Valley has to offer, will covet the FVMBA series trophies. (last year's trophies)

FVMBA

Day of registration entry fee at all the races will be $10/race. But we will be offering an early bird pre-registration package from Feb 6th to Feb 19th through CCN.

Pre register here reg.ccnbikes.com/index.php/event/fvmba-all-mountain-spring-series

Every racer needs to have a Cycling BC license (UCI/Citizen/Club) and be a member of FVMBA. Both of these can also be purchased at www.ccnbikes.com Cycling BC licenses will not be sold on site.

Due to the venue restrictions and layout of our first race at Heritage Park in Mission, there will be a 125 rider cap. Pre registeration is strongly encouraged. Only the racers that race the first race and every other race will qualify for the Race Every Race category, as well as the One Bike to Rule them All category and the Overall Series Points. But this doesn't mean that racers will be excluded from the rest of the series. All other venues will have unlimited entry. Again the rider cap is only because we are restricted to field size for the Heritage Park Venue.

Kintec will be offering some great incentives for everyone to keep coming out for the Race Every Race category. The top male and female winners in the Overall Points Series will win some great swag.

We have a sub category for the Race Every Race category. The One Bike to Rule them All category. Compete in every race on the same bike/wheels/fork and be entered in multiple draw prizes from Suspensionwerx, Suspension Therapy and Marx Conditioning.

Our sponsors were fantastic with their ample swag last year. This year is no different. Avenue Body Shop in Abbotsford will be presenting the $50 Crash Crash at each race as well as Podium Cash for the top five in the Male, Female and Junior categories. (min. 10 riders are needed to field a category to be awarded top Podium Cash) There is $800 in cash to be divided up as Podium Cash for the Series. Pinkbike.com and SRAM will have a truck load of prizes along with the support from the Bear Mountain Challenge and all the Valley's bike shops. Lifecyles, Wentings, Velocity, Cranky's and Pedal Sport.

All the prizes that these sponsors have donated will be awarded as draw prizes. So you don't have to be an XC racer boy or a DH king to go home with swag. All you have to do is show your support for FVMBA, ride some killer trails, have FUN and you have a chance to win some cool stuff.

AM - All Mountain. It has a lot more down than up, so its not a XC race. But its not DH. And it is a little bit more pedally than a Super D. Too many people get hung up on classifying a certain ride style. FVMBA is just wanting to put on a race series for guys that love to rip trails, no matter what bike their riding. So for lack of a better word, its an All Mountain Spring Series. It has something for everyone.

There is a post about Cedric Garcia on a 29er that seem popular. Most comments are negative toward the 29er yet in this series Arthur regularly schools all other styles of bike on all types of courses. Maybe it's less about the bike and more about the rider......... I guess if your slow on a "big" bike you'll be slow on a 29er. If your fast.... Come school Arthur.

Haha yep Arthur is gonna be strong on any bike as he's a talented rider. In my experience the 29er climbs most things easier and smoothens out the trail due to the different approach angle of the tires, but ya back to strong riders are gonna do well no matter what they are on.

Heres a list of just some of the goodies we have to give away as draw prizes for everyone who pre registers and comes out to race
4 - $150 suspension services from Suspensionwerx
3 - $75 suspension set up consultations from Suspension Therapy
2 - $150 cycling specific, 4 week individualized programs focusing on flexiblity & mobiliy, with kettlebell strength training from Marx Conditioning
2 - $160 trail runners from Kintec
2 - 2012 NIMBY FIFTY entries
2 - 2012 Bear Mountain Challenge entries (can be used for either Red XC or Bear DH)

These are all draw prizes for everyone who pre registers and competes in the entire All Mountain Spring Series.
There is a pre reg cap of 126. Thats 1 in 62 odds of winning entry into this years Bear Mountain Challenge or NIMBY FIFTY!

Heritage Park is the only venue that will have a 126 rider cap. Venue size and lay out have dictated course restrictions. All other venues have unlimited entry.

And for those who can't make it out to every race, Avenue Bodyshop, who's located in Abbotsford, will have you coverd. $50 Crash Cash at each race for the best wrech or worst broken part. They have also donated $800 cash for the series that will be awarded as Podium Cash. Paying out 5 deep at each race, for each category. minium 10 riders must field the caterogy for top podium cash So all those women and juniors out there, if you plan to race, bring a buddy. Your wallet might thank you.

This is just a little bit of a teaser of what one can expect. There is lots more from our generous Race Venue Sponsors: Pinkbike.com, SRAM, Wentings, Lifecyles, Velocity, Cranky's, Bear Mountain Challenge and Pedal Sport.

So remember Pre Registration closes at midnight, Sunday Feb 19th. reg.ccnbikes.com/index.php/ev...-spring-series
