5Dev Releases Solid Steel Crank Spindle That Adds Half a Kilo to Your Bike
Batch size is one factor. Other factors are that stainless steel tends to be more expensive than aluminum by weight, stainless takes longer to machine than aluminum (even if there's less machining) bc it's more dense, and the higher material density also means there will be a lower piece yield for the same weight of material.

Video: What's Happening with the YT Mob?
@bendorrigan: this is my understanding - that YT NA is its own business which handles distribution and customer service in north america. reading between the lines my take is that it's "business as usual" for them - as long as they have inventory.

Video: What's Happening with the YT Mob?
@edspratt: one thing I've been trying to dig into is whether or not YT gmbh is actually insolvent. The prior announcement was that they had entered into self administration - which doesn't necessarily mean the company is insolvent (it can mean that, but can also also only mean that insolvency is imminent). based on these interviews it sounds like that is the case? is that confirmed? It's an important distinction, as insolvency is a specifically listed scenario (along with bankruptcy & liquidation) under UCI rules in which they (the UCI) would recognize a rider terminating their contract before it was up.

Man Throws Bike Off Bridge in Whistler Bike Park Altercation
On more than a handful of occasions I've come across riders stopped / standing in places - on tabletops, on wooden drops, blind spot out of a turn, etc. I always give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they don't know better and just say "hey guys that's probably not the best place to stop" and let them know why. In all but one instance they were totally cool about it. The one guy that wasn't started mouthing off to me and I just responded "well don't say you weren't warned when you get hit" and rode off.

21 Mountain Bikes We Predict Will be Updated in 2025
@ShawMac: i was referring to my comments on company size. to your other point, reading between the lines on the statement "no plans to accommodate UDH on current bikes", i would take that to mean they might not update the current models, but it would be included on future models.
