@shredddr: I don’t think the argument is that enduro needs the same kind of financial backing as DH and XC. I’ve heard some pretty crazy rumors about the amount being dumped into each round by those teams at the moment, and I’d argue that it probably isn’t sustainable for most brands, but we will see on that in the next year or two. Enduro at its core doesn’t need the fancy trucks or crazy budget, and I think if more brands back the next wave of the sport it could be a pretty good time to put money into it, as the budget required to support a small team in enduro right now for a full season is roughly equivalent to what brands are throwing at a single round of DH or XC. If people get behind the sport in a positive way, the return on a relatively small investment for brands could be well worth it.

UCI & WBD Sports Cancel 2027 Enduro World Cup Season

While quite a shock and massive bummer to the many athletes, organizers, venues, etc who have dedicated so much to this sport over the last 15 years, Enduro is still growing and thriving on smaller local levels. Most enduro series’ on more regional level have as much interest and registration as ever before, and the scene is healthy in the grassroots sense. It’s a damn shame that post-covid decline, some poor management by the UCI, and a handful of other factors played into a decision like this being made, but if you’re someone who enjoys the sport now is a better time than ever to show that through supporting your local series. Enduro is a fan favorite to actually race when compared to other disciplines and there’s a reason for that. It’s hard to beat doing a big day on the bikes with your friends. The discipline sure as hell ain’t dead even if UCI / Warner Bros can’t see the value in it.
