Video: Aaron Gwin Previews the 2024 Tennessee National Downhill Course
Any race line has to account for the different skill levels of the categories it’s open to. Even World Cup DH trails have to cater for both the junior females and elite males. I’d agree with you about some of the trails around Denver but that’s a case of making the most of the small amount of new trails that are allowed, rather than a desire to design this way. If you can only build one bike specific trail and your choices are, a blue trail or a blue trail with black options which would you pick. Hopefully that situation changes in the future and the design will change with it. Ore Chute would be a good example of the end goal where you have A and B lines for a few key features but they are different shades of the same overall rating. The upcoming trail at Virginia Canyon has a lot of options of various difficulty but It’s the first trail in a new network so has to cater to a wide range of folks while we build the rest of the network, subsequent trails should be more focused.

Video: Dirt Sculpting Artist or Trail Builder in 'A Rideable Piece of Art'
@phil-mclean: agree with you that those with influence should take more care. I also think that youtubers and the like should shout out the builders and maintainers of the trails they ride and how to contribute. It would take 30 seconds for them to give something back to the very thing they are making money from. As far as the insta culture goes, we see more damage from people skidding down trails that are too hard for them so they can insta-brag to their mates.

An Update from Dan Paley After His Huge Crash at Darkfest 2024
For insurance that covers taking part in an organized event it is unlikely that travel insurance will cover it. This is what we have sporting associations for, who can use money from membership dues and the buying power of a large membership to negotiate affordable rates to cover the added risk. British cycling members can purchase travel insurance that specifically covers events at a discounted rate for example. Any UCI sanctioned events require proof of insurance to take part I believe. Whether an event like DarkFest should require similar proof is a question I’ve seen asked, or is it enough to say you are all adults (and most likely professionals) making an adult decision. When I used to travel the world for months of the year rock climbing I had a year long policy through the British Mountaineering Council that specifically covered the activity, helicopter rescue etc along with all the usual travel related insurance.

The Complete Guide to the 2024 World Cup DH Teams
Brendogs had his own sponsorship program for years and raced under the factory teams umbrella. I doubt there is any change to his sponsorship as a result of this. Probably either had too many other commitments or just isn't bothered about racing anymore

@jsnfschr: I always thought that the perceived lack of empathy could be a symptom of autism but it is due to either a failure to understand that the person is upset or that empathy is the correct response to somebody being upset not that autistic people are incapable of empathy
