If you have ever dreamt about building your own personal pump track, you are not alone. During the renovations works at Commencal's HQ in Andorra this year, they took full advantage of the opportunity and called in team rider Pierre-Edouard Ferry to build them the pump track they had been dreaming about. What PEF delivered became a sensation during the 2015 World Championships with visiting riders and fans pouring in to see and ride their latest office accessory for themselves.

Come on Commencal, thats 2 hardworking guys offering themselves for jobs. Emptying bins, cleaning up or even making tea. We can do it.

Sick Build. I just had Action Sports Construction build a pump track in my backyard for my little boys. I'm really happy with what Alex came up with for the space. Pics here: www.pinkbike.com/u/perry1/album

You paid people to make you a pump track!?!? Thats like the saddest thing ive ever heard.
  • 36 1
@fercho25 As much as id like to hang around in my yard and shape jumps all day I can't. I have three kids under 5 and a company to run. One day you'll figure out the whole "time vs money" thing..... or maybe not.

Sure buddy whatever rationalization that helps you cope with your laziness is fine by me.
  • 28 2
@fercho25 LMAO Bro that's 1/3 of the yard in my million dollar neighborhood. Id say I'm far from lazy. Now go jump back on your X Box in your apartment you internet warrior.

@jakeharrisonmtb Its cool bro. I know hes just trolling. Also getting more down votes then Hillary Clinton at a gun rally.

Looks rad @Perry1 Next place I buy is going to have a backyard just for the pumptrack. My 3 boys would love it!

Wooo can't wait to shred it tonight

Dang, nice! and I'm glad you paid someone to build you what you needed. It helps the economy by helping to put money on others table

@perry1 Are you adopting? id love to ride that pumptrack looks sick

Until you've built a pump track yourself, or any trails for that matter, you've really got no idea how much work is involved. I built mine two years ago by hand (no mechanical help as site access was shite), and our total ride time on it is still probably less than how long it took to build.

If I knew how much work was involved, if I could've found someone crazy enough to build a pump track at the bottom of our garden, I would've happily paid for it!

Still got the hip jump and wall ride to go though Smile

@si618 I cant believe you moved all of that dirt by hand that far!! Good on you. Looks great and I'm sure the kids love it.

@Perry1 I totally get ya man. I have a 3yo, 5yo and work 50hrs a week. I barely have enough time to just ride the damn bike, let alone build a pump track. So with that said, I actually am building a pump track next spring that will be ~50'x30' and at my going rate of work รท time......it should be done in 2021.

im not trolling, I sincerely think that paying to have a backyard pump track build is a really sad thing, I also think you are rationalizing your own laziness. as for your third argument am not sure what you were aiming with that one is not like im expecting rationality from the lazy guy who pays for a backyard pump track and owns a drone, but am gonna bless you with the charity principle and assume you were using it to prove your previous point of how hard you work, but if that was the case. living in a million dollar home is not really impressive not even impressive adjacent. especially considering how in the U.S. real state is bought generally via loan so in a 15 year plan is not even 10k a month.

lol your third grade level economics is a little off, bud.

 Do you accept child labor?

@Csellers799 Did you see Claudio's summer work projects? He had a huge build summer. Probably not enough time to...

Since they seem to have fixed their frame snapping issues from a few years back I really like them too. I just got one of their bikes as a matter of fact.

can't beat a pump track at home. after years of dialing the line, just finished concreting the whole thing in. great investment for sure.
  • 1 0
@coupstair Any pics? I want to cement or asphalt my berms. What product did you use? Thanks
  • 2 0
 straight quikrete mix
  • 1 0
 Cool thanks.

Good advice to wait until the line is dialled, we're still tweaking ours and have more work to do, but once it's dialled I'll be using a locally sourced crushed rock for the top surface rather than concrete or asphalt. Clay dirt is great to shape, but a pain to maintain.

Here's an example: instagram.com/p/4GpKtMQY5u
The top surface is " 6mm crushed fines", it was recently built and is close to my place, so if it survives an aussie summer and winter, I'll be using it for our pump track at home.

@Perry1 i've used quikcrete bags mostly with welded wire mesh reinforcement as it's easy to form to the track movements. due to the humps, bump, curves, booters, and bowls i only made the slabs between 2.5"-3" thick as those shapes all provide some integral structure anyways. the last berm / booter section i used fiber-reinforced concrete as i added that quantity needed onto the truck that came to pour a new garage slab. this stuff needs no reinforcement at all but it is pricey and a little hairy. the fibers can be torched off after the fact if you want a smooth surface.

one of these days i'll post a pov of the track. good fun and sweet for 1/16th rc bashing and the kids chalk artistry as well ... thinking of getting some local graffiti artist(s) to maybe tag it up as well to add a little color.

So Claudio Calouri/ velosolutions didn't get the job

maybe too expensive ? swissers ain't joke with money haha
  • 3 0
why out source when you can build it with people you already pay?
  • 5 1
I'll fetch the tea bags? and the baguettes?
  • 2 0
Interesting... instead of building one for ourselves, we built one next to the skate park down the street for everyone to use. Pretty dope pump track though.

Track is sick, and they are true perfectionist. Here is a 24 second time lapse of a pump track I made... Mini ex - rake - dirtbike - rake - bike. Finished! www.youtube.com/watch?v=13aH2oFNY0Q
