BicycleEmporium.com Launches GRT Development Team in Auburn, CA
Bicycle Emporium.com launches first National Race Team out of Auburn, CA. Today Bicycle Emporium.com released news that they have put together a National GRT Race Team. The team will be called BicycleEmporium.com GRT Development Team managed by Curtis Christensen, Store Manager for Bicycle Emporium in Auburn, CA.
He has assembled a group of local riders to compete in the West Coast Super D race series between California, Nevada and Oregon along with the National Gravity Race Tour (GRT) point series supported by USA Cycling Organization. "I felt it was time we put ourselves on the map. In the last few years local riders from our area have competed in Local races, Oregon Super D series and the National GRT Series with great results. Not only have they received awards, but most of these riders have left with multiple awards and combined awards bringing back up to 6 podiums in one event." said Curtis. "We have a serious amount of terrain to ride regularly in Auburn, and its conditions warrant riding all year long similiar to Santa Cruz. This gives us the advantage over most other areas especially with a legal DH shutting area which offers quick race simulation runs we can practice over and over. This is one of the areas used by Fox Racing Shox to work on their DHX rear shock series. We are really lucky and most of us abuse it to the fullest!"
They're main focus this year will be the Oregon Super D Series, the Bigfoot Series, Northstar Series and the National GRT Series. Curtis also said, "We have riders in all age levels racing Expert or Pro Category. I wasn't sure how it was all going to come together. I put together a solid resume of racers who have a great solo resume. I shopped our Team to most of my dealers and surprisingly I was well received by them. I was able to obtain Sponsorship from Royal Racing, Santa Cruz Bicycles, Shimano & Pro Bike Components, SixSixOne, WTB, FoxRacingShox, AthletiCamps.com, Ethirteen by The Hive and Formula Brakes USA.
"I am super stoked for this team going forward. I have been working my ass off on this and everything is working out better than expected. You know you are doing things right when Juli Furtado calls and confirms Santa Cruz Bicycles is on board for 2011," he said.
So now we are just waiting to receive our Custom Jerseys for the Team, which by the way will also be available for purchase in my store. Actually a replicate complete Team Kit will be available. As of today we have 25 total riders on the Pro and Grassroots Roster.
