I know the feeling all too well. When we built the Vortex DJ's, pump track and ladder drops in '05 with the IMBA trail crew, what a great experience and gathering of like minds. Many friendships were forged in stone (well clay actually) and we as a collective had built a stellar place to apply our passion for everything cycling. When I moved from Florida back to New Jersey, I longed to be back at Santos Trails daily. I was and still am homesick for the trails I truly considered home. Even as much as I love riding downhill here in the Northeast, still part of me would love to be able to just session the trails at Santos like I used to. But life moves on and you find new trails to dig, new friends are made and you find the same people who share your passion, just with different names and faces. It was very reassuring that after I had left that the next generation of riders stepped up to the plate and progressed what we originally built into something bigger and better than the original. You guys know who you are so there is no need for names, but I am proud that you have continued on with the same passion and selflessness that led us to build there in the first place. It is amazing what can come from something as simple as dirt, shovels and the love to ride.
