Study Suggests eMTBs Provide a Similar Workout to Regular Mountain Bikes Even Though They Feel Easier
Of corse thats true but i think this is not the key point here. The suprising thing is that the riders felt like they got "significantly less of a workout " und believed they had a much lower heart rate during the ride, but actually had a pretty similar workout (only shorter) with a similar heart rate.
So even though they give boths bikes everything you have, like you say, und have a similar workout, the ride on the ebike feels easier.

Im thinking the judges gave a closer look at how clean the run was than the years before, punishing guys with good tricks but not celanly executed in their scores. That might be why rogatkins score was quite low. But i think thats a good thing if the trend goes in that direction, because its safer for the guys riding. They have to perfect their tricks before showing them in a contest what leads to fewer crashes.

Thats not the point in my opinion.
To put it in the official statement like that shows that the fmbs doesnt want to admit their fault, but wants to find it somewhere else. It may also hurt the reputation of the riders especially the one that stood up an didnt want to take it like that.
By also calling the athletes unsportsmanlike in the last sentence this statement shows that the fmba has the same spirit about riders having to risk their lives even in bad conditions as the organizer.
Giving the points and prize money to the best 8 riders is only due to the public presure.
Thats too bad in my opinion
