During seeding the wind and rain was hectic so the finish line (timer device) was bought up before the shark fin. Most riders didn't do it, many just stopped before it but some chose to carry on and do it for steez. Final jump was closed with a steel gate so these times can't possibly have been for the whole course.
Women's seeding didn't go ahead. They didn't tell us why as far as I know.

Throwback Thursday: 16 Years of Greg Minnaar & Santa Cruz
Not taking away from Nico's efforts but do you think he had the same level of competition as Greg for the majority of their careers? Quite amazing Greg was still competitive in 2023 and still able to take world champs title in 2021 so long after starting to race. Nico's first 5 wins were 1st place out of 3 competitors back in the mid 90s. It's the same reason I think Gwin could have claimed the GOAT status if he didn't suffer injuries later in his career because he came into the sport older and still did so well against a super competitive [established] crowd, albeit with no champs titles.
Either way, both incredible careers and it's quite remarkable Greg is still going at 42!

@Roost66: is he 87 points back or is that an error? Race list says DSQ but he seems to be listed 29th in the overall standings list. I reckon they'll amend that to DSQ and he'll be quite a few more points behind, won't he? Or am I missing something?
