@johnny2shoes: I upvoted you before responded. It's a valid criticism and a risk they took. Some people/customers will view it exactly as you posed it. Some will be turned off by Chromag adopting alloy. I was simply making a counter point. Only Chromag knows if it negatively affects their sales numbers. My hope is people just see it as a cool company doing cool things, not getting tied down by brand history. The last thing we need is to lose another Canadian mtb company. I'm definitely intrigued by this bike. I was just shopping 170mm-ish bikes and this is priced competitively with the alloy Spire and Patrol.

@johnny2shoes: "..it's a complete dereliction of the founding principles of the business in favour of profit" OR they know the limitations of steel having worked with it so long and chose a better material for this design over "principles" and attachment to a symbol. Had Chromag said “We’re a steel brand, so we’re forcing this 170 mm bike to be steel even if it ends up too heavy, too flexy, or can’t hit the kinematics we want.” that would have been stubborness, not principles. Camelbak specializes in hydration. They did a different take on water bottles. Whether or not their valve design is better or not, I have no clue, but it's different. Had they just slapped their brand on a Purist (like basically every other bike brand), then yeah, cash grab. You expect them to only make backpack water devices? So what other products would you be ok with? A backpack home and garden sprayer? A re-imagining of the super soaker 3000?
