Agreed, 152 bpm for 8 minutes is objectively easier than 152 bpm for 18 minutes. Anybody arguing otherwise is trying to sell you something or is trying to justify something that was sold to them

@ocnlogan: it’s important to note that the testing that is done when “rating” an e-bike motor is not a test of the the maximum amount of continuous power it can output. Instead it is a validation of continuous power at a very specific power level, typically 250w because there is no reason to ever try to rate a motor higher than that and make it illegal. This means an e-bike motor company could build a Surron style bike with pedals with a motor that is capable of 8000w, and submit it to be “rated” at 250w. It would be run at 250w continuously, shown to be thermally stable at that operating power, and then be “rated” at 250w. This is what most e-bike motor manufactures are doing, underrating their motors to skirt the law and trying to hide behind the term “peak power”

@basic-ti-hardtail: I am surprised to hear you praise that 9-46. I had that on my bike and the would last at most 2 chains. At over 200$ a pop I ended up trashing it after the 3rd one and upgrading to a 12 speed xt which seems to be immortal
