@the-smith: You get to a very important point here. A motors "rating" has little to do with it's true performance. The standard EU test to achieve a motor rating is a 30 min test that verifies you reach a safe thermal equilibrium at a given power output over 30 minutes. It IS NOT A MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS POWER TEST, it is just a test that shows the motor is stable at a very specific power output (like 250W). In theory, you could take a surron motor and submit it to be rated for 250W. The EU would test it at 250W, find it to be thermally stable at that operating power, and rate it for 250W. They are "rated" at 250W simply because that is the highest level of testing the manufacturer had the EU test to

@mikekazimer: The article I linked, also written by Seb, specifically says that the 1,100W/1,300W ratings are "continuous". Check the info block right at the top of the article. Avinox M2 & M2S Details • M2S: 1,300 W & 130 Nm continuous, 1,500 W & 150 Nm in 30-second bursts • M2: 1,100 W & 110 Nm continuous, 1,100 W & 125 Nm in 30-second bursts This seems to pretty blatantly violate the 250W limit of what you guys consider an "ebike", so what gives?

@aphollis: We have gone way beyond that line. This motor has a support ratio of 800%. When your legs are only doing 11% of the work no one could argue in good faith that you are still "pedaling" and the pedals aren't just hidden throttles. It's simply a way for electric motor bikes to sneak into places they shouldn't be because they look like a real bike.

Remember when pinkbike editors said they wouldn't publish/review anything regarding bikes/equipment that went beyond class 3 (aka motorcycles)? Pepperidge farms remembers...

Imagine spending almost $700 on a dropper post, and it still being a fox transfer. Every transfer I have had needs a full rebuild at a shop every season, and works only moderately ok in between intervals. It’s amazing how much more reliable a 250$ oneup is vs what is advertised as a premium product

Crazy to see such an intense competition aimed specifically at people over 60, I hope I am still doing this at that age!
