The guy with the iPad is Ian Warby, a coach from firecrestMTB.com He records his riders with his iPad, then can instantly play the footage back to them, pause it and annotate the footage to highlight any mistakes or areas they can improve -

It's pretty impressive to watch and is just one of the many ways he helps to develop young riders talents. But other than that, yes, most people look pretty dumb recording anything with an iPad.

Teach bike riding without training wheels.
One of my friends never learnt as a kid and started learning a few months ago. Was pretty fun trying to help him out. He set up a blog so his family and friends back home could see how he was getting along. http://learnwithlaurence.blogspot.com/ if anyone wants to check it out.
