Of course, you can get crappy bmx products, but they are half the cost of the crappy mtb stuff.
Now, I don't have a problem with people riding whatever they want. If you are happy with what you ride, then i am happy for you. But, if you think you are doing something different and new, you're wrong. Thats a fact.

That's true, but bikes like this are not MTBs. Even the ones with suspension forks and hydraulic brakes. The mountain bike industry has marketed these jump/street/park bikes as something that is new and separate from what 20" bikes have been used for since the 70's. They have created this division to trap kids, and some adults, into an endless cycle of buying heavy, flexy, overpriced crap that is always bending and breaking. Why is it that a taiwan made MTB frame costs the same or more than a handmade bmx frame?

The corporate bike industry has manipulated young people, through marketing, to think that they are doing something new and different than BMX when they buy these heavy, expensive "mountain bikes". Why does a mass produced, Taiwan made, "mountain bike" frame cost twice as much as a hand made BMX frame? They don't want you to know that you could be spending way less money and time obsessing over and replacing all their heavy, fragile, flexy, crap components if you were riding stuff made by the BMX industry.
