Hard tail. This bike rides great and can handle pretty much anything you can throw at, but works best as a cross country/all mountain set up. Slack head tube angle (68.5)and a shorter stem help with handling steeper terrain, and the tubeless dh tires on there now make for a really grippy ride. Dropper post is a little sticky, but it works. Regularly tuned since I bought it new in 2018
