Why is Pinkbike full of such righteous people? I know a few people including myself who have enjoyed their YTs, my full Capra was cheaper than some frames with a half decent spec. Lots of organisations make mistakes. Most don’t apologise and try and recover. I wish you well YT cos you brought value, fun, energy and good bikes into the mix, while the rest of the industry fleeces us with prices or pushed stupid standard on us..

So firstly I love mountain biking and big mountain freeride in the wilderness, well that’s just off the scale bravery that I can’t comprehend. But my main point is the constant stream of injury updates, not sure about other sites but there are a lot on Pinkbike. So injuries are a massive part of sport, let’s take rugby and football, loads of really nasty injuries but they just happen, player goes on the injured list someone comes in, not much is heard until say injured player returns to training and approaching return to first team. In MTB we get posts like this, is it because social media forms a huge part of their income and identity, do Pinkbike like the knarly aspect of injuries?? I guess in mainstream sport you still get your salary when injured, what happens to a free rider when injured, do they still get paid, do the posts help visibility?? What do people think about the stream of injury posts, core riders know how dangerous this sport is, but does it help or hinder people coming into the sport? Personally I’m not a fan, the skill, dedication and bravery is unquestioned, often for a fraction of the salary of mainstream sport.

@tacopop: I didn’t say that but you are correct! Yeah maybe, I just can’t articulate the change in the scene. I picked up an old Dirt magazine today and I just feel that side of mountain biking has gone. However I still love watching DH world cups and messing in the woods. I just don’t think we need this, why can’t the meaningful incremental gains be in say suspension, brakes, maybe gearboxes.. I still can’t tell the difference between fox factory and the low end stuff, probably says more about me than the equipment!

Another nail in the mtb coffin. We could have value bikes with great geometry and spec to get more people riding yet we have this monstrosity. And it’s ugly whatever people say and the camera angle. Have people forgotten how fun riding was on 26” bikes when mountain biking had soul, now Just monster truck over everything - it bizarre….

Seems to be getting pushed by Pinkbike, but it’s different this time, I think large / xl bikes in xc and gravel might go this way but that’s about it. I find this kind of stuff a bit soul destroying, mtb just doesn’t feel as fresh anymore and these kind of articles are cold and just quite boring. I really hark back to the Earthed videos and Dirt magazine days, showing my age. Anyone else feel this way?

@smegman: yes but you know what’s happening in real time through the splits and as soon as as someone crosses the line, it’s super exciting, understandable and spectacular to watch. You can watch a stage in enduro without it being relevant to the overall result - that’s just how it is. Also Enduro was also the type of riding we all do, a lap round the local with 7 or 8 mini dh sections; get home and look at your stage results for the day on Strava. Ultimately we want to watch competition that is at the elite end of the scale, elite dh and xc is way beyond my dreams; but a young fit me might just trundle round a enduro circuit! Also agree with the other posters about the early days of the global enduro scene, locations were wild and just seemed like an adventure. Let’s not mourn the demise of enduro but enjoy the grass roots stuff and be thankful for everything it’s done for bike development over the last few years.
