Results: Garbanzo DH - Crankworx Whistler 2024
Logistics would be completely unworkable for a big race with spectators, but I've always thought the Cannell plunge in the southern Sierra (the last 12 mile descent) would be an absolutely epic race run

First Ride: Ibis Ripmo - Now With Downtube Storage & Mixed Wheel Compatibility
@norcalbike: Same. Test rode both the StEvo and the Ripmo before settling on the Ripmo, and am super happy with it. Not that the StEvo isn't a good bike for some riding styles, but the Ripmo is just so lively and fun

First Ride: Ibis Ripmo - Now With Downtube Storage & Mixed Wheel Compatibility
Very happy Ripmo V2 owner here, and big Ibis fan. I am probably way in the minority here, but I miss the swoopy top tube. I think it looks great in person, even if it doesn't seem to look good in photos. And, like the old logo, it was a unique bit of design language that fit with Ibis' reputation as a quirky company that wasn't afraid to be out there. This is the company that made the Bow Ti and Hand Job, after all. The new bike looks good, and if it's anything like the V2 I'm sure it rides amazing, but I kinda prefer my older, weirder looking, kinky top tube version

Bike Check: Asa Vermette's Frameworks DH
Asa's only 145? That's surprising given he's 5'10, and looks like he's got a lot of muscle on him

Video: The Wildest Runs From Val Di Sole Over The Last 15 Years | Racing Rewind
@paulskibum: Nina losing a shoe was at Vallnord. I do remember Myriam's 2021 World Champs win there well. It was definitely one of those runs where she was visually pushing way harder and going way faster than anyone else; super aggressive and attacking the course like no one else was that day. And she ended up winning by like 5 seconds

Video: Elite Women's Winning POV from the Leogang DH World Cup 2024
@Glenngineer: Yup, fair enough! That said, I've switched from the DHF to the Kryptotal on the front and found it to be an improvement. They have the transition knobs between the center and side knobs, similar to an Assegai, so they eliminate the "dead zone" that the DHF has when you're cornering without fully leaning the bike over (it's been pointed out to me that if I consistently leaned the bike over all the way like I'm supposed to while cornering, the dead zone isn't a problem. They're not wrong, but turns out my form gets sloppy sometimes so having that extra transition grip is nice). Still, they Kryptotals roll a lot faster than the Assegais (although probably not quite as fast as the DHF). Overall, I'm a fan.
