Dakine Acquired by Marquee Brands LLC
I'm pretty sure Marquee Brands and JR286 wont care much, if at all that there's been a good amount of concern about what comes next for Dakine as a brand here, I can see all those at Hood River caring ALOT though, and so long as those concerns get air time at board meetings, hopefully things will stay as they are. I use there kit as a "go to first" brand,(most if not all my kit is there's) I've never had cause to use there warranty as yet, but just having it there is a real plus. I did have a 19 year old pack of there's give up it's small pocket zip, which I didn't have fixed, (never asked) but the fact it lasted nearly 20 years of daily abuse, went along way to settling my mind on quality. Adding to that, I've had Dakine UK and EU reps, running half way around the world trying there best to find me old stock kit that's in some backroom store, long forgotten, as I HAD to have it. that's serious customer service, and then some! and if that suffers due to this takeover, then it will be a very sad day indeed.

Video: Alf - The 82 Year Old Cancer Survivor Who Still Rides
Exactly what riding any bike is, and always should be about, Alf clearly proves age, and serious illness (once recovered from) is no barrier to get riding. Still shocks me at times that there are still a lot of people around that never learnt the joy of riding a bike, if ever I meet one, I try my upmost to ensure they discover it, as it still is and always will be, one of the single most important things invented by a human, the bike. EVERY human on the planet should ride one at least once in life.

My mind keeps wondering if I could get away with doing Megavalanche on one of these? Me - " Look it has bars, forks, and errm (cough) a frame...of sorts, I mean c'mon wheels are overrated these days " Mega race official - " No...just no "

Seems the SMX north legion snow bikes have gone out of production, which is a real shame, however good to see other companies coming up with there take on a snow bike.

A few mates of mine in Finland used to run a small fleet of these sort of things (SMX north legion snow bikes) I found them to be some serious fun! I ski and board, and thought these where a good cross of both worlds really, and much easier for those that were wary of learning to ski or board, to get to grips with. There were unfortunately a few that got a bit upset about the new kid on the block, and hated them from the get-go, as happens with most folk that cant see past there own nose, when it comes to all things new, and different from the "norm" thankfully they didn't win out on the slopes.

Guillaume Bout's Bonkers Concept Bikes
I am guilty of riding less now the weathers turned shitty, and I try my best to use the time pretty well, but I don't think I'll ever get Guillaume's level of using off bike time quite this well! I'd be very surprized if he doesn't get at least a few calls/emails from bike manufacturers, as he's clearly a very talented chap.

Video: Introducing The 2018 Pinkbike Field Test
I wouldn't mind a review on the mini as well as the bikes :) had a few mini's in my time, learnt to drive and passed my test in one, still by far THE best car (road legal go-cart with a roof) I've ever had the pleasure to own. Just seeing mikes mini here, has got me looking at ad's, and thinking life's not quite complete without one. Word to the wise though, if you have a habit, like me of rolling your mini in a crash, do yourself a big favour and fit a roll bar, I found out the hard way that minis REALLY don't like being upside down. due to there integral roof struts having the strength of soft cheese! Coming to, after crashing, and seeing the passenger seat gone,(thankfully no-one was in it at the time) as the roof appeared to have eaten it, did take the shine off mini ownership a tad.
