Nov 29, 2023Pivot Firebird 29 Pro XT Large (2020 spec)
$2800 USDPivot Firebird 29 Pro XT Large, upgraded to 2020 spec with Shimano XT 12 speed. Lightweight and a shockingly efficient climber considering the 162 mm travel, making it a real do-it-all bike.
Wheels are much newer as they were taken off a 2021 Switchblade. Will include super custom water bottle that fits inside rear triangle (the only flaw of this bike IMO). Will sell with components exactly as shown except saddle and chain guide.
Willing to ship or meet up in the greater Monterey/Santa Cruz area, any Paypal fees and shipping cost will be at the buyer's expense.
The following changes from stock:
- Full Shimano XT 12 speed
- 200 mm MT900 Ice Tech rotors
- RaceFace Aeffect R crankset (the threaded pedal inserts worked loose on two pairs of the original Next SL cranks, which the Raceface rep admitted simply isn't a good spec for this kind of bike)
- Deity Knuckleduster grips
- Internally threaded steerer tube and OneUp top cap for OneUp tool. Tool not included.
- 2021/2022 DT Swiss XM1700 wheels (the bike came with the carbon Reynolds wheels which I intend to keep)
- OneUp 210 mm dropper
- Custom (and very secure) bottle inside front triangle
- New WTB Volt saddle (not pictured!)
- Foam sleeves for cable housings to eliminate cable rattle.
- Sorry, the chain guide has been removed and is on a bike that needs it more.
The bike is in great condition overall, with normal wear and tear for a bike that was mostly ridden on mellow terrain in a dry environment. There are small scratches in the usual places and wear on the cranks. Stanchions look pristine. Seat stay clearance for the chain is somewhat tight in the lightest gear, so I kept protective tape on there. Most significant cosmetic flaws are some peeling of the clearcoat on the stays, see pictures.
- Brakes just reinstalled and bled (I ran a different set for the past 3 years)
- Only 170 miles on the cassette
- Brand new rear axle (managed to lose the old one)
- The drive side seatstay and non-drive side chainstay each have an area where the clearcoat peeled off when I removed previous protective tape.
- Thick downtube protector shows wear, there is a little wear on the decal underneath from before the protector was installed.
- The bottom-most ISCG tab shows wear down to the carbon, but only on the tip of the tab and not on or near the bottom bracket.
- Steerer top cap is pretty scratched up.
- New shifter installed in September 2023.
