Opinion: E-MTB Is Awesome. Why Does It Leave Me Cold?
Apologies in advance for the sermon, but keep in mind it's the PB comments section, FFS. But seriously an honest question above...

Opinion: E-MTB Is Awesome. Why Does It Leave Me Cold?
Curious if this is on anyone else's mind...
What do you do with your 5-10 year old e-bike when you can't get a replacement battery or motor for it anymore (or it's cheaper to scrap it than replace both)? Assuming the geometry and standards haven't evolved much (a plausible assumption, IMO), the "E" is the sole reason it will end up in the dumpster rather than with a new rider in the sport.
We can debate the pros and cons of peddling under your own steam vs getting a boost all day but in the end I think our pursuit of "newphoria" will spell disaster for our environment, or wallets and our wellbeing.
