@netracer-enduro: ebikes already depreciate quite a lot when parts are no longer available. Batteries can have cells replaced, but depending on the bike (i.e., most mountain bike-capable bikes), it will have an anti-tampering feature in the battery BMS, rendering the bike useless. I was an e-bike mechanic for 2.5 years. I would only buy a second-hand bike if the parts were still available. But I would also expect to replace the battery (for any bike over 2 years old or younger with an odometer less than 2000km or over 10,000km), so add that into the total cost of the bike.
