totally agree. the spesh Eliminator in the gravity casing is an awesome rear tire and I typically find those for around $50 whenever there's a 20% off sale or coupon floating around.

From a marketing standpoint this is a pretty smart play for Gates. I'm pretty sure companies can take out an odds based insurance policy for a prize like this at a fraction of the cost of putting 100K on the line, right?

I run a 1300 gram gravity casing tire on my 130mm 5010, but Im also 210lbs. Front tires I feel like you can get away with a lighter casing...and dare I say it's preferable in terms of traction and suppleness at the front end!
