Prototype 9 - 36 tooth Cassette Gearing - First Look
Maybe I'm just too strong for my own good then. I'll just stick to the thicker chains. I can blast up the hills quite happily and don't have a problem with 2 cogs up front. Weight's not an issue for me and my chain doesn't fall off the rings.

1x10 on a mountain bike? I'd be replacing chains every week! I use a 2x8 on my hardtail and still stretch a chain out in about 6 weeks. When I had to buy a new road bike just before xmas, I purposely went for the 'lower grade' 2x9 rather than 10 or 11 out back due to chain stretch. Maybe that's just me, I'm a powerful guy and tend to use drivetrains hard.

I suppose it kinda is a bloopers thing. It was practise and because it was so treacherous not many riders were pinning it. Most of the best stuff seemed to be crashes. I took the still camera out for the race runs and they were MUCH quicker.

Was stuck behind the slow boys ;) I could have gone a LOT faster on my hardtail than on the DH bike.

Agreed. It wasn't much fun for the poor guys trying to get down the mountain though! Until you've been there you really can't appreciate just how steep it is.

I'll try to get the Sunday runs done soon and post it. I've got loads of footage, I made a DVD that runs to about an hour and a half I think. Also took loads of photographs.
