Pinkbike Poll: Do You Enjoy Riding In the Mud?
Our local trails close when it gets wet enough for anything close to ruts or damage. I can count on one hand how many times I've ridden in mucky conditions. We don't get a lot of practice.

@sanchofula: What resort? There is only one paid network at the Trapp Family Lodge, everything else is free public access.

@sanchofula: All of the Stowe Trails Partnership managed trails are free access public trails. There is one private network in Stowe, $15 for a day pass.

I think it needs to be said that the immediate area where this trail was built has over 50mi of established MTB trails, and hundreds more within an hour drive. Great local community engagement with the organizations that help manage the trails in partnership with private/public land owners. It's not like there was a lack of good riding, quite the opposite. I feel like these guys set out to purposefully build something illegal. Something that those networks don't offer, which I understand, if you want a double black in a land of blues, that's understandable, but there are much better ways to get that done than to go rogue and do it yourself. VMBA has great community engagement and I'm sure they would have been happy to help.

Vermont isn't Los Angeles/San Diego/Riverside County/Orange County, VMBA has helped open new networks, and new trails every season.

@fl0wstate: Stowe has *lots* of MTB trails, ~45mi+ managed by the Stowe Trails Partnership, plus some privately managed trails that the public has access to. Right up the road from where this trail was built, too. All summer, every third car you pass in Stowe has MTBs on the back. It sounds like these guys just wanted to create a *type* of trail that those networks don't currently offer. Very nearsighted and selfish if you ask me.
