Living the Dream: David Rosen's Flow Motion Titanium Hardtail
I may have missed it, but I didn't see anyone suggesting Sage was price gouging, just that they wouldn't pay that much for this bike. A don't think they would argue with what you wrote, especially the last paragraph, but I don't get why you are on THEM because they said the bike was too expensive for them to justify.

@Powderface: Sometimes...but this is brazing, not welding, so I don't think the steel gets hot enough to require post heat treatment. Could be wrong though.

@davec113: I suspect the rim is pivoting essentially around the 'axis' defined by the spoke nipples, so spoke tension probably has little effect -- they aren't staggered very much.

I find it interesting that there are comments about the lighting in the Baybutt photo, when the Lorence photo has such overtly UNNATURAL lighting. It is just because the lighting is awkward on purpose that makes it okay?

Or don't die on climbs by running a 2X or 3X setup and getting an even wider gear range. Oh wait, this SRAM setup "helped kill" those drivetrains, essentially creating the problem that it tries to solve....

Short answer is no. The front triangle is pretty straight forward to do 'flat' -- the rear end (I'm assuming hard tail) gets trickier, but it can be done.
