Every year our local trail advocacy group
WMBC puts on a video contest called Shoot the Trails. For the past few summers our boys Grahame(10), Griffin(9), and Gunnar(6) have all expressed interest in entering a video. With the hectic late summer and early fall schedules we have never had a chance to put something together.
This year we made a plan to put something together but weather and hockey schedules almost had us drop the ball again. Luckily, on the day before entries were due, the weather and schedules aligned and we were able to film this. Grahame and Dad actually had to clear several trees from the trail and tune up a few of the jumps to make it happen.
We live on the outskirts of Bellingham, WA in a forested community and this is actually filmed on the trails the boys ride to school. The kids grew up riding these trails before they started riding the larger trail networks on Galbraith and Lookout Mountain.
The kids didn't win any awards but I think the were pretty excited with outcome, positive feedback, and getting to watch the film on the big screen. They have already started planning a video for next year and have a better idea how much work it takes.
