Video: Sunday Saves #47
The line between "save" and "fail that didn't require hospitalization" is a thin one.
says the guy laid up from an unfilmed fail on Weds>

How To Take Your Kids Mountain Biking Without Ruining the Fun
Started my kid on a Shotgun-like seat, graduated him to a balance bike. Got him on a hardtail by age 7 and was quickly terrified watching him rail down single track in a blur of dust and drifting, so quickly got him on a full-sus Transition Ripcord. What followed were the inevitable Bike Dad shenanigans where "we" justified upgrades. My wife kindly played along, and is ok with the upgrades "because it's safer."
He's fast, and I love riding with him. Riding with your kid(s) and seeing them progress, followed by the inevitable day where they crush your PR in a technical descent, is a joy I hope everyone can experience.

Pinkbike Poll: The 2025 MTB Damage Inventory
@bashhard: It's definitely above normal, but we have a lot of decomposed granite grit here, and I ride in the rain a lot (at least on this bike), so things get pretty chewed up.
The drivetrains on my other bikes that see less water and grit last a lot longer (2-3x easily)

Pinkbike Poll: The 2025 MTB Damage Inventory
@rrolly: Just tons of hard miles. That bike has over 6k on it, and it's seen 3 derailleurs, 4 cassettes, at least 4 chains, countless brake pads and tires. This year was just particularly rough, especially after a really wet summer.

Pinkbike Poll: The 2025 MTB Damage Inventory
1 wheel
1 shock (does it count if it's an X2? I feel like this is cheating)
1 fork (beyond rebuilding)
all the bearings, incl. wheel
a derailleur
1 xtr caliper (rear)
a surprising number of brake pads
and one shoulder - crushed the head of the humerus. Not funny at all.
This is all on one of the bikes. The other was much kinder in repairs to both bike and body.

Pinkbike Poll: The 2025 MTB Damage Inventory
I've started counting the years I don't hit my deductible and stashing that money for bike parts.

30 Minutes of the Best (And Worst) Fails From 2025
Is that the same unicycle dude in every video? If so, we need to protect him at all costs, as he is a national treasure and must submit more videos for our amusement.

Pinkbike Editors' Christmas 2025 Wish Lists
52 here - broken clavicle (distal end - major repair) a few years ago, and this year I rewarded my annual park day with a crushed humerus.
It's a lot harder to recover now than it was when I was 25 ...
